Universal Search Features

The features available in Universal Search depend on the Destiny version you are running.

Before you begin

To access Universal Search, you first need to configure it. For configuration instructions, see page 7 of What's New in Destiny 12.0.

Once Universal Search is configured, you can access the features that are available based on the version of Destiny you are on.

The following table tells you what Universal Search features are available based on your version of Destiny:

note Features are cumulative, meaning that everything available in an earlier version of Destiny is also available in later versions.

  • Login / Logout Log in with your Destiny credentials.
  • Access To access, select Catalog > Universal Search.
  • Search* Ability to search for books, eBooks, websites, curriculum tags.

Automatic Update features

  • Destiny Server Identification Ensures students can find their school at www.gofollett.com.
  • Checkouts and Holds Ability to view checkouts and holds in Bookbag.
  • Reading Paths Link for teachers to access Reading Paths in Follett Shelf (Classroom Connections users only).

  • Bookbag View previous checkouts and previously-opened Follett eBooks.

Automatic Update features:

  • Bookbag
  • Reading History Able to access in Bookbag (requires the Access library checkout history permission).
  • Resource Lists and Favorites Able to create in Bookbag.
  • EasyBib Online citation tool that Universal Search integrates with.

Destiny v13.0

  • Permalink Provides a permanent link to your school's Universal Search Homepage.
  • OverDrive and MackinVIA Access to OverDrive and MackinVIA titles when integration is complete in Destiny.

  • Widgets Ability to create search widgets to your Universal Search homepage and your library, classroom, or school website.
  • Permalinks | QR Codes Direct link to a specific resource title details page.
